BoP
EquipmentAlso known as: Balance of Plant
Balance of Plant (BoP) refers to all the supporting infrastructure required to build and operate a BESS plant beyond the core battery and PCS equipment. This includes civil works (foundations, roads, drainage), medium-voltage switchgear, cabling (AC/DC power cables, control cables, fibre optics), auxiliary power systems, HVAC, fencing, lighting, fire water systems, and grid connection infrastructure.
BoP typically represents 15–30% of total project cost. It is usually the responsibility of the EPC contractor and requires coordination across civil, electrical, and controls disciplines.
