EPC

Stakeholder

Also known as: EPC Contractor, Turnkey Contractor

An EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor takes full responsibility for delivering a complete, operational BESS plant. This includes detailed engineering design, procurement of all equipment (DC blocks, PCS, transformers, BoP), managing construction, and handing over a working plant to the asset owner. The EPC contractor carries accountability for performance, schedule, budget, and system integration. EPC contracts define availability guarantees, warranty structures, performance obligations, and liquidated damages. The distinction between EPC and system integrator varies by market — system integrators may focus more on engineering and equipment supply, while EPCs also manage civil construction.
