SOC

Performance

Also known as: State of Charge

State of Charge (SOC) indicates how much energy is currently stored in a battery, expressed as a percentage from 0% (empty) to 100% (full). It is the battery equivalent of a fuel gauge. SOC is a critical operating parameter managed by the BMS and EMS. Batteries are typically operated within a defined SOC window (e.g. 10–90%) to protect cell health and extend cycle life. Operating at extreme SOC levels (very high or very low) accelerates degradation.
