C-rate določa največjo moč polnjenja/praznjenja glede na kapaciteto. Višji C-rate (≥ 0,5C) omogoča kopičenje prihodkov; nižji (0,25C) optimizira počasnejše cikliranje in manjšo degradacijo.

Energijska kapaciteta posameznega DC bloka neposredno vpliva na površino lokacije, kompleksnost kablov in stroške. Večji bloki zmanjšajo število enot in potrebnih BoP priključkov.

Kakšna je razlika med DC blokom in AC blokom?
DC blok oddaja enosmerni tok in mora biti priključen na zunanji PCS, ki tok pretvori v izmenični, združljiv z omrežjem. AC blok združuje PCS in baterijo v eno enoto in neposredno oddaja izmenični tok. DC bloki ponujajo več arhitekturne prilagodljivosti in so prednostni za večino projektov utility-scale, medtem ko AC bloki poenostavijo integracijo in so pogostejši v manjših aplikacijah C&I.
Zakaj večina projektov BESS utility-scale uporablja DC bloke?
DC bloki omogočajo razvijalcem projektov in podjetjem EPC neodvisno izbiro dobavitelja PCS in proizvajalca baterij ter optimizacijo arhitekture sistema (centralizirana ali string), prilagojene zahtevam posameznega projekta. Dva najpogosteje zahtevana certifikata sta UL 9540A (preskusna metoda za širjenje požara na ravni sistema) in IEC 62619 (varnostne zahteve za industrijske litij-ionske baterije). Glede na regijo in razvijalca so lahko potrebni dodatni standardi, kot so UN 38.3 (transport), IEC 62477 (varnost naprav močnostne elektronike), stopnje zaščite IP in projektno specifične zahteve za požarno zaščito.
Kako kapaciteta DC bloka vpliva na stroške projekta?
Večji DC bloki (npr. 5+ MWh na enoto) zmanjšajo skupno število enot, potrebnih za projekt, kar zmanjša kablov, BoP in napor pri namestitvi. Večje enote pa zahtevajo težjo dvižno opremo za transport in postavitev.
